What a kick!

Tyson Foods has gotten into the holiday game in the last few years, creating special, limited-edition chicken nuggets for Halloween and Valentine’s Day. Now the brand has created a Thanksgiving nugget that’s aimed to those for whom the holiday is all about football, and more specifically about an NFL game hosted each year by one particular team.
These nuggets are shaped not like turkeys or footballs, but rather stars – the shape that represents the Dallas Cowboys.
“The star-shaped nuggets combine America’s team with America’s classic chicken nugget that will have fans exclaim, ‘How ’Bout Them Cowboys!’” Tyson says in a press release.
The introduction of Tyson Dallas Cowboys Nuggets follows the brand’s release, a few months ago, of the similarly team-targeted Tyson Razorback Nuggets, catering to fans of University of Arkansas football. Tyson Foods is headquartered in Springdale, Arkansas. “Tyson Foods is in Razorback Country, most of our team members are huge Razorback fans and our consumers have been calling for a way to celebrate their team,” the brand explained at the time.
The rationale for Tyson Foods’ collaboration with the Dallas team may not be as obvious at first glance, but the nugget maker says the two family-owned entities have longtime ties. Dallas Cowboys Owner, President and General Manager Jerry Jones and former Tyson Foods President and CEO Donald Tyson, who died in 2011, “formed a close friendship of mutual respect and admiration, and the launch of this partnership is meaningful to both families,” Tyson Foods says.
Made from all-white meat, with 11 grams of protein per serving, Tyson Dallas Cowboys Nuggets are “fully cooked” and “ready within 10 minutes,” making them a convenient game-day meal, according to Tyson. The nuggets can be purchased at local retailers and club stores — “where available” — as well as at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, during Dallas Cowboys home games. Tyson Foods will make a $1 donation for every purchase of the star-shaped nuggets throughout the holiday season, up to a total donation of $100,000.
“Everyone knows that good food and football go hand in hand, so we hope the Tyson Dallas Cowboys Nuggets find a place on game-day menus across the region,” said team owner Jones. “Being able to now offer our fans another way to fuel their fandom, while also benefiting The Salvation Army, is a winning play for all of us.”
It does sound like a touchdown move, though perhaps not to fans of the New York Giants, who are set to face off against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday, November 28.
Still, who doesn’t like stars?
