When it comes to freezing things, TikTok is like a laboratory. For years now, creators have been experimenting with their ice-cold treats. They’ve achieved new textures, new flavor combinations and, often, new ways to consume sugar.
In 2021, jelly-like frozen honey was trending (and troubling dietitians). This past summer, cold candy-coated grapes grew popular. Diet Coke fans still devote themselves to crafting the iciest sodas imaginable. The latest frozen fad is an adorable, colorful and crunchy one: frozen gummy bears.
ASMR creator @emiri.asmr started this trend in mid-October. She films herself crunching frozen a batch of frozen gummy bears, then shares her recipe at the end of the video. If you want to try it yourself, it’s simple.

Start by arranging a packet of gummy bears in a single layer in a deep airtight container, then pour soda over them so they’re immersed. @emiri.asmr uses a Japanese lemon-lime soda called Mitsuya Cider, but other TikTokers substitute Sprite or 7UP, which are more widely available.
Refrigerate the mixture during the day or overnight until the gummy bears soften and absorb the soda. They should turn translucent with a jiggly texture, and they should swell to about twice their original size.
Drain the soda and place the gummy bears in a single layer on a plate, then freeze for at least three hours until the candy becomes frosty and opaque.
Reviewers say that the frozen bears take on a smooth, icy texture and a subtly sweet, lemony flavor. Lukewarm reactions suggest that this trend won’t have the staying power of, say, Baked Feta Pasta, but if you’re looking for a fun weekend project, frozen gummy bears may be worth a try.
