You don’t need to spend a fortune this year to cook a holiday meal. Target is the latest retailer to discount common Thanksgiving groceries to make turkey day more affordable.
This year, Target is bringing back its Thanksgiving meal bundle for $20 — $5 less than it cost in 2023. The deal includes a frozen and basted turkey, five pounds of potatoes, a can of green beans, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of cranberry sauce, a box of stuffing mix and a jar of gravy. The kit serves four.
Target’s deal is part of a larger trend of retailers bundling and discounting Thanksgiving groceries. Sam’s Club, Aldi and Walmart are all offering comparable meal kits to Target’s for less than ten dollars per serving. These deals include many beloved Thanksgiving dishes or ingredients to make them, from mac and cheese to pumpkin pie. While the menus vary, all three kits come with a turkey.
This wave of deals speaks to the many budget-conscious customers out there. While the rate of grocery price inflation is slowing down, plenty of Americans are still feeling strained. These Thanksgiving bundles offer them a convenient way to host a holiday meal without splurging.
“One of the themes we consistently hear is the need for affordability, so we have made a commitment to prioritize that and to make sure we are delivering affordable options,” Rick Gomez, Target’s chief commercial officer, told CNN.
Hopefully, these discounts will help customers cook the dishes they’re craving without stressing about the cost.
