Christmas Burgers

Ree’s Christmas burger puts a big emphasis on reds and greens. It also has a special sauce, the star of which is cherry preserves, which gives a fabulous sweet and savory flavor.

Directions

  1. For the burgers: Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Place the patties in the pan and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side. Top each with a slice of Gouda for the last few minutes of cooking.
  3. For the special sauce: Meanwhile, mix together the mustard, mayonnaise and preserves in a small bowl. Set aside.
  4. For the burgers: Remove the patties and let them rest.
  5. Place the buns on the grill cut-side down and toast lightly, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  6. To serve, add some sauce to both sides of the bun. Add a patty to each bun bottom, then top with the cherry peppers, lettuce and bacon.
  7. Arrange the other halves of the buns on top, and serve with potato chips.
